The Founders
Three founders, one disagreement, one product.
Alex and DJ met at a chess tournament in Bangkok. Some time later, the three of them were playing pool when Ilian brought up an idea. An app you could talk with to get psychotherapy. DJ was intrigued. But the more he researched it and thought it through, the clearer it became that a psychotherapy app would never work. It was legally impossible, and more importantly, it was wrong about how people work. Nobody follows advice they are handed unless they have to. The decisions that hold are the ones people reach themselves.
So the product became the opposite of the first idea. Aynshara does not analyze you. It mirrors you. You write, and the Mirror returns your own words, details, and patterns, so you can do the analyzing and reinforce the reality you are working on. The Lenses, the archetypes, the daily Moments, the Crucibles, and the Distillations all exist to keep you on your own journey, seeing your own evidence. Aynshara does not tell you where to go. That was the disagreement at the pool table. Losing it is what Ilian now calls the best design decision in the product.

Alex leads the product's knowledge system and backend engineering. He built the structure behind the fifteen Lenses and sixty archetypes after more than fifteen years of studying the traditions they draw from. He knows the question each one asks, where each has power, and where each must stop. That last part is his real specialty. His work defines what every Lens can claim and what it never may, and how the app stores and retrieves all of it.
Alex also uses the app every day and tests everything he builds. His favorite part is the Practices. For someone who has studied these traditions as long as he has, he believes the Practices add the most value in the whole app, because they turn fifteen years of theory into a guided sequence anyone can walk through in ten minutes.
A Moment Alex wrote: "I rebuilt the same module a third time instead of shipping it." Through the Repeating Pattern Lens: You wrote "a third time." The rebuilding has happened before, and the not shipping has followed it before. What tends to arrive just before the decision to rebuild, and what does shipping risk that rebuilding does not?

DJ built the app. The design and the full stack behind it. He holds an MBA and a degree in accounting, with roughly thirty years across business operations, product development, and investing. That includes years running an investment advisory practice, where he learned firsthand what it means to be careful, legally and ethically, about the line between information and advice. That line is now his job. He is responsible for keeping the product's claims testable and for enforcing the rule that the Mirror never advises or diagnoses. He also leads the commercial, privacy, and operating decisions behind the service.
Building the app changed how DJ uses it. Working with the Lenses taught him how much faster your reality can change when you see the same moment through alternative viewpoints and ideologies. Today he uses the app to understand his own archetype patterns better.

Ilian Nikolov · Cofounder · The Face of Aynshara
Ilian is an actor, and the idea started with him. He is also the founding team's primary practitioner. He does QA on the app every day, testing the Quests, the Lenses, and the Moment flow as a real member would, and he uses all of it in real life as he pursues his acting career. That daily experience comes back as feedback that shapes what Alex builds and DJ ships. He also presents Aynshara in film, on stage, and in the app's own introduction. He argued for the psychotherapist. He now argues the Mirror works better.
A Moment Ilian wrote: "I performed the feeling instead of having it." Through the Inner Shadow Lens: An actor knows the difference better than anyone, which is perhaps why you noticed. What does performing the feeling protect you from that having it would not?
How the team works
Alex defines what the knowledge system can claim. DJ decides what ships and runs the company. Ilian's daily practice and feedback shape the product before anything reaches members. All three use the app on their own real Moments. The examples above are theirs.
All three founders have cats, which the team considers relevant experience. A cat watches everything you do, judges none of it, and leaves the conclusions entirely to you. The product aspires to the same discipline.
